Itinerary: Rainbow Mountain Ausangate

Day 1Hiking to the rainbow hill and Crossing the pass

At 4.00 am our staff will pick you up at your hotel to drive to the village of Pitumarca where we will have time for breakfast, later we will continue our trip until Kayrawuiri starting point of our hike, from here is for about two hours until reaching the mountain of 7 colors, here we will have time to take pictures and then continue our walk for 1h30 more in direction to Anantapata place where we will have lunch. During the journey, we will appreciate lagoons, vizcachas, and if we are lucky we will appreciate the flight of the condors.

After the well-deserved lunch and brief rest, we will continue with our walk towards the lagoon of Jampa where we will camp and spend our first night.

Day 2Visit a hidden lake near to the snow & Crossing the Second pass

After breakfast very early, at 6.00 am we will begin our trek in an ascent to the Abra Ausangate for approximately 1 hour, where we will turn to see the lagoon next to the glacier. We can honestly say that we are the only company that visits this lagoon. Later we go once again through the descending trail for 1h30 more to enjoy the views of other lakes to the foothills of the peak until we get to the Lunch point at Jampa Alto.

After lunch and a break, we will continue with our descent, passing by more lakes and wild grasslands where we will appreciate herds of Alpacas, Llamas, sheep, and wild birds until we reach our camp in Quellhuacocha.

Day 3Visit a highland family & Thermal baths

Like every day after breakfast, we will start our hike with a slight climb, then we will descend a bit to get the Ausangate lake, this will be the last to appreciate in the journey; then we are going to visit the local family to know how difficult and beautiful is their life in the Andes, for that we recommend you to bring some groceries as a present.

After lunch will continue with a slight descend of 30 more minutes to reach the camp of the thermal baths of Upis, where we will have free afternoon after lunch to relax in the pools after walking 3 days in a row through the incredible landscapes of the Ausangate snow, and here we will have our last group dinner.

Day 4Last views of Ausangate peak & back to Cusco

Today we will say goodbye to the Ausagante peak which is still near for the last time. We will begin our descent hike for about 3 hours until the town of Tinki, where our cook is waiting for us with the last lunch of the journey.

After lunch we are going to visit the village, then taking our van to Cusco making some stops for photos, arriving at about 5 or 6 at night to Cusco.

Note: this trail can be extended up to Sivinacocha with a small modification, which would be 6 days in total. Contact us about this option.
