Lares Valley + Inca Trail Trek Itinerary

Day 1Driving to Famous Lares Hot Spring, Cultural Immersion in Quihuarani – Blue Lagoon

Our trekking staff will pick you up at your hotel at 5:00 am to travel for approximately three hours to the town of Lares, on the way will make a small stop to buy some groceries that will be donated to people that we will visit on the lares trek Machu Picchu. Then we will drive to the town of Lares. Where we are going to relax in the pools before breakfast. After to enjoy our amazing breakfast still will drive for 40 minutes to the trailhead in Quishurani.

In Quishaurani we have programed a different cultural immersion activity according the season, we are starting our Cultural immersion activity visiting a with local family, here they will welcome us at Andean stile singing, dancing and with some presents elaborated for them as a memory, then they show and explain us their life style, before to learn their daily activities in the highlands, afterwards we are going to learn all the steps how they work the potatoes farm sense the plant until harvest with and Incas techniques, we suggest to experiment this kind of job according the season. Also, they will explain us about how feed their animals like Llamas, Alpacas, cows, sheep’s and also the Guinea pics.

Then we are going to enjoy our lunch provided with a local people with the support of our professional chef, after we need to say goodbye to those people because start our hike by the Lares Valley, is a 3 hours ascending hike, along the trail we are going to see more shepherds, animals grazing, once we are walking we will be surprised by the nature, an amazing waterfalls is in from us, this water are descending for the snow picks and lagoons, since here star our zigzag hike for 30 minutes towards to our first campsite next to a blue lagoon.

Our tents are waiting us already set up to relax or if you prefer you could go to walk around to explore, after we are going to enjoy our tea time and our first dinner in the mountain, later on ready to go to bed.

Day 2Crossing the Condor pass, Views of snow peak - Cancha Cancha campsite

Today our trekking team will wake you up with coca tea inside your tents to combat the cold, we will have time to prepare our things before enjoying our energetic breakfast, then begin our trek in ascent for about 4 hours at a slow pace until we reach the highest point called Condor or Pachacutec pass at (4,680m / 15,350 ft) above sea level with incredible views of lakes, peaks, it is here where we will celebrate our achievement with free time to enjoy, in from us is the snow peak Pitusiray, lakes, clouds, scenery in general.

Also, we are going to do a gratitude ceremony to the Apus (mountain god)
to be here appreciating this incredible Pacha Mama (mother Earth), then we will enjoy a tea over the mountains carried by our team, since here starts our descending hike for 2 hours until our lunch spot called Accopata, along dis two hours will see another lagoon, more llamas, alpacas, cows, a wild life as mountain Cara Cara falcon, Chinchillas, and if are lacky on the sky will some Condor Flying.

Once we arrive to Accopata our lunch will be waiting ready to enjoy, after that a short rest, time to refill our water bottles before to start an hour descend trail until to get the village of Cancha Cancha 3750 masl with the stunning views, of llamas, and alpacas. Along tis last section of this day we are going to see more potatoes farm and of course the amazing landscape.Cancha Cancha is still isolated from roads and the electricity was connected recently.

Our tents are waiting us again set up to relax until tea time, during this we are going to teach you about Andean constellations, that are extremely important for agriculture in the highlands, later on time to enjoy our dinner and if the sky is clear we are going to show you some constellations before to go to bed.

Day 3Weaving introduction – Pachamanca food – Ollantaytambo town

Our team will wake you up with a hot drink and you will have some time to pack your bags and enjoy the breakfast. After breakfast, first here we are going to visit the local school where we will see how is the education in the highlands and also if you like you can carry some toys or supplements for students like a pen, pencils, notebooks, markers, etc.

Also, here we are going to visit another local house to donate some groceries and to know a little more about them and to learn more about a spinning, weaving techniques and iconography, we invite you to be part of this process, then we will begin to descend for 3 hours until Huaran town, through a beautiful Lares valley accompanied by the river which descends from the mountains and has beautiful landscapes. Once we arrive to Huaran will had an entry food before the mains course, here our chef is preparing a delicious traditional food know as Pachamanca, also our chef will explain us all the process and you will be part of this, we need to wait a little and then start to enjoy our farewell lunch.

Finally, after lunch time to say goodbye to all our team that supported us along the Lares Trek, here you could give them some appreciation to motivate continuing working hard, then we will take our van until Ollantaytambo for two hours approx. with incredible views of the landscape along the Sacred Valley. Ollantaytambo is the only living intact Inca village. It still has many Incas water channels, houses, and walls;

Once we arrive to Ollantaytambo our tour guide will conduce you to your hotel for a check in and take a rest until the dinner, or if you prefer can go to explore the town. At dinner our guide is providing you an information for the Inca trail the next day.

Day 4Train to km 104 – Wiñay Wayna Incan Site – Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes

Today we are going to start early with a breakfast in your hotel, at 5:30 our guide is providing your box lunch for this day, then we are going to the train station and board the train who departs at 6:10 am, remember you are going just until Km104 it is just an hour, once arrive there get off the train please, because the train continue with it trip. At Km 104 (2,000m / 6,560ft) begins our adventure, we need to cross the Urubamba River by foot the bridge, the is the checkpoint and need to show you original passport an entrance to be accessed, later on start officially our Inca Trail with a visit to the first Incan site called Chachabamba an ancient Incan checkpoint, form here is like three hours climbing up until the most important Incan site of this section, the famous Wiñay Wayna known as the little Machu Picchu Picchu by the characteristics, here also is a waterfall.

Our tour lieder are going to explain the function of this Inca Trail and the different areas of this archeological site, like the agriculture area, religious area, and living area. Also next to this site we are going to enjoy our box-lunch, after to lunch short break and time to use the facilities before to continue.

After lunch start our gradual ascending hike with some downhills for an hour and half until the Sun Gate, log the way since the beginning until there the views of the Urubamba Valley are Amazing, for that we are going to do some short stops for nice pictures. One we arrive to the Sun Gate will have a nice panorama of Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu mountain, this gate was used to appreciate the sunrise by the Incas from Machu Picchu with astronomical purposes.

Form here is an hour down trail to Machu Picchu always accompanied by amazing landscapes, once we arrive to the Inca Site of Machu Picchu (without crowds), we will look a nice spot to see the sunset or you can go to explore a little to the watchtower area to take more charming pictures.

Continuing we need to walk a little more until the bus station that is located outside of Machu Picchu, to board and travel for 30 minutes until the town of Aguas Calientes, where we will go to register to the hotel and nap until the dinner time in a local restaurant.

Day 5Visit to Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes – Back to Cusco

Today after breakfast we will leave at the arranged time on a bus towards the enigmatic Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, the bus will take about 25 minutes to the one of the new 7 wonders of the modern world. Before to enter is recommended to use the facilities because inside the park doesn’t have and is not allow to re-entry if go out for any reasons.

then our tour will begin through the most interesting parts of this wonderful Inca city for about two hours, following just one way according the new regulations and with adequate time for you to take photos; our guided tour finishes in an exclusive point so that you can have time to enjoy a bit more the rest of Machu Picchu. The tour is by 100% all most important places, like, Incan temples, houses, agriculture area, living area, Inca Quarry, etc.

once finish the tour, if you booked an early the entrance ticket for Machu Picchu or Huaynapicchu peak, our give is going to show you the main entrance to begin your extra adventure by your own. At the indicated time, you will have to take the bus to the town of Aguas Calientes to take your lunch (not included).

After lunch you will have a free time for rest or to go to explore a little more the town, that depends the train departure schedule, to board the train you have to be 40 minutes in prior and trip in direction to the station of Ollantaytambo or Poroy. There our driver will be waiting you outside to take you and drive our van to Cusco directly to your hotel, approximately you will be in your hotel at 19:30pm

Note: During the excursion, you must not carry anything heavy, you must carry only your luggage, a personal backpack with your necessary items for the day.

  • Expeditions and Vista Done Train We include the Expedition train on day 4 from Ollantaytambo to KM 104, and the Vistadone train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo on day 5.

  • Trekking Equipment.During the trek we will transport 7 kg of your belongings for that will provide you a duffle bag, a rain poncho, plus a backpack cover.
  • Campin EquipmentWe use the best possible equipment for mountain activities for your comfort and safety. Tents of 4 people capacity but we use only for 2 people, as well as spacious dining tents.
  • Tour support team.We include staff that will make your trip unforgettable, such as the guide, cook, cook's assistant, porters and muleteers.

What is not included?

  • Single Room or single Tentif you require a single room or tent has an extra cost.
  • Gratuities for the team.Tipping is a common tradition on any kind of tour, the travelers tips to hand out to the muleteers, chefs and guides. Although we pay a good salary to all our team, always an extra is welcome for them.
  • Meals not mentioned.First Breakfast, last lunch and dinner are not included.
  • Trekking poles.Walking sticks with rubber tips are highly recommended to make easy your hike.
  • Sleeping BagIs necessary to bring a -15°C sleeping bag, for your confort.
  • Travel insurance: It is not mandatory, but it is recommended to protect yourself financially from any lost excursions.

Pricing & Departure Dates

The tour can leave on any day of the week, from March to January. we dont leave on february because rain a lot.

The departured are 100% guaranted, because we operate since two travelers.

Price

Private Tour: 

Private tours are available and priced according party size.

Group Tour:

  • $ 800.00  US$ 780 per person.

A group tour means, that it is open for other travelers to join. This means, your group will have different fitness abilities.

Discount:

Travelers under 17 will have a $40 discount. Groups of 6 or more will have a $40 discount each. Please advise us when you are going to book to give you the discount.

Required Deposit:  To book, you need to make a pre payment of US$ 200.00 per person by PayPal.

Please after deposit send us the transfer number. Only with this we will be able to confirm your pre payment and reservation of the trek.

Balance: The remaining balance can be paid online by Paypal in advance, or in Cusco at briefing with cash (recommend) .

Notice: If your are going to pay the balance with credit or debit car is a charges 5%, that have to be covered by the clients, or can be pay in Cusco with cash without tax before the tour.

  • Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain: $75 USD each (Please request when you book the tour)

Huayna Picchu mountain:  This is the famous mountain behind the archaeological site of Machu Picchu. it takes 50 minutes up, and another 40 to back, you can climb this mountain once finished the guided tour of Machu Picchu. The entry to this mountain has an extra cost, and need to be book in advance.

Machu Picchu Mountain: This is the other mountain who surrounds the archaeological site of Machu Picchu, it is less popular than Huayna Picchu and takes 1.5 hour up.  Also requires an extra entry that cost .
